Name: Malachite


Malachite is a copper carbonate that occurs in the oxidation zone of copper deposits. It is a replacement mineral for Azurite, with which it is associated. It grows in many beautiful forms, botryoidal masses and rare crystals, a shiny velvet or dark green, or Malachite “flowers”. A stone sacred to ancient Egyptians, used by them for cosmetics, pigments, protective amulets and healing. The natural color bands resemble a Peacock’s Eye”, and were thought to guard against evil. In Czarist Russia, Malachite mined in the Ural Mountains was used in carvings and architectural accents. Most Malachite now available is from Zaire, and some is from the U.S. southwest.

Metaphysical Properties: The deep green vibrations of Malachite bring abundance into one’s life. It helps ease depression and soothes and cleanses the emotional body, and helps strengthen the heart. It is also a stone to aid in transformation and in the rebirth of spirit and the regeneration of cells in the physical body. Its high copper content works with the body’s energy field and helps balance Chakras.
