Labradorite is an aluminum silicate from the plagioclase feldspar group. It occurs as rock masses and as plutonic intrusive formations and in basalt flows of volcanic origin. This beautiful stone has a quality called Labradorescence that creates brilliant flashes of blue, green or gold upon its surface. Much Labradorite and Spectrolite mined in Norway and Finland is used as decorative stone for buildings. Labradorite from Madagascar and other countries is used in stone carvings and fine jewelry that rivals in popularity that made from its “sister” feldspar Moonstone. Metaphysical Properties: Labradorite is a protective stone which shields the aura from detrimental energies and helps one to remain centered upon one’s spiritual purpose. It aligns the physical and ethnic bodies and helps blend the rational and intuitive aspects of self. An aid in meditation, it helps connect one with universal energies and grounds this spiritual essence into the physical self to raise conscious awareness. Spectrolite opens the subconscious for flashes of intuitive wisdom and problem solving. It also aids physical, mental and emotional endurance. Chakra Affiliations: Upper Heart and Brow. |
